I am finding that under load my auto slips . An example is doing a hill climb the engine revs but theres no drive to the wheels. the oil level is right. what could the problem be ? Am i up for a rebuild?

not a rebuild, but you can replace the clutch packs with heavier ones, or have a stall converter installed.

Funny things autos, and they hate heat. Can lead to clutches coming to bits which can block filters etc. This obviously leads to performance problems. Most specilaists will remove bottom pan and give you a idea of the auto box condition.

Yes pull the pan look at the condition, is the fluid red and clear, does it smell burnt. I would use ATF flush, drain it put in new fluid but leave room for 1 liter of LUCAS ATF additive and yes an Atf cooler would be the way to go. Does it do it when it is hot or cold or both
