I can't find another place outside of Australia, that has the Diesel V8 in any of the 70 series lineup, only in the 200 series. They are so lucky.

This would be a nice configuration.

I don't get what the big deal of a v8 diesel is, inline 6 cylinder engines are more stable and durable. Toyota is putting a 4.5L V8 diesel into their trucks, that is a very small V8, the 12HT as well as the 1HDT are 4.2L engines. The addition of 2 extra cylinders and a V configuration with only a 0.3L increase isn't that big of a deal in my eyes. Domestics have been making larger capacity engines for ages. Granted they have not been better, but they were larger. Getting caught up in the American race for more power and less reliability is silly in my opinion.

It just not the V8, it sucks that options are limited, when you know different options are available somewhere else. I know the grass always seems greener on the other side.

I'd kill for one of those 70 series "Workmate" wagons with the roll up windows and the vinyl floor. I think they are 60 grand Canadian or something silly. Imagine having everything brand new. Sigh.

From what I have heard that D4D V8 Diesel is only available in OZ, it does not meets Europe emissions standards, they still offer the 1hz for people in Europe that want a Diesel.

Sure would love a base model D4D V8 turbo Diesel Troopie with A/C and a 5spd.

Yep, give me a nice inline any day. Personally I LOVE the commonrail in-line 5 in my 2006 mercedes sprinter. Smooth, powerful, and very very efficient. Wish I could get a 4x4 with that engine.

My buddy has one, the full size, dually, extra height, fully loaded that thing has power to spare and great fuel economy. The newer models (where they used larger wheels) have less economic engines and more issues from what I heard.

They moved to a V6 with the new emissions which is way more complicated, less reliable and less efficient. Thanks, California.

Jeep Liberty used to have a 4 cylinder diesel for 2 yrs, I think. It was short lived.

The Jeep Liberty had the Mercedes 5 cylinder, turbo, diesel engine out of the Sprinter for a couple years, then Mercedes got annoyed with Chrysler and it stopped.

That engine was also available in the Cherokee (or some other full size Jeep) if I'm correct, for a couple years. There were rumours of using it in the smaller Jeeps (the ones that pretend to be 40 series) but it never happened. I think Mercedes just used Chrysler to get the Sprinter vans into the US market, from what I read once.

The EPA and Canada a year latter have ramped up engine emission standards in 2004, 2007 and now 2010-12. The limited sales of the Jeep diesel probably did not justify the investment. T

Yesterday we ran with 80 series US gassers, Greg's California diesel transplant and my little underpowered rig ( down here the 74 is very underpowered). The US 80 burnt 9 gallons, Greg's 5-6
and mine 4 gallons. Nothing they can do. But trucks are cheaper and they only drive them as "toys" on weekends not as DDs
