this was just a rear locker we were not sure how safe putting one up front would be as this is cliffs DD and he is gonna be doin a lot of road drivin with it.

Got any daytime pics? Looks good, just too dark.

don't worry about putting one in the front of a daily driver unless you drive around with the hubs locked in all of the time.

Given its a DD and where he's located, I would think that would be a real possibility if its used in the winter.

Ya the idea of havin a front locker not disengadge goin around a corner during a snow storm would be the only real fear, I think we might think about just havin a spare 3rd member set up for winter/summer i.e. locked/open. anyways theres a lot more to be done to this rig till that becomes an option.

Hey there, just picked up an 85 injected SR5 with a blown up motor, and I am going to with the help of the forum, strip and build it up for a possible Calico run in September. Any help is appreciated, parts info, stores, tech. Thanks in advance..

MarlinCrawler.com has everything you need including lift kits, crawler gears, steering mods, etc. Marlin is the MAN for mini-truck mods.

For engine parts its engnbldr.com. Ted has everything you need for an engine rebuild. Quality stuff, good prices and excellent service.

For tech info, in addition to this board, there are a lot of knowledgeable folks on Marlin's board at www.marlincrawler.com. Also www.4x4wire.com. And check out the FAQ section on Pirate4x4. A lot of good info and I suggest reading it before posting there as Pirate does not suffer fools lightly :D

Good luck and welcome to world of the mini-trucks!

Good info Garrett.

Lockright or EZ locker. I did two lockrights for the v6 carriers. One seems to aggressive for the street, ie. doesn't seem to really unlock and scuffs the tries pretty good in truns. The other seems to be the opposite, unlocks but when it engages, say during a gear change it really pushed the truck around. The v6 carriers have NO thrush washer adjustment like a 2 pinion carrier so you can end up similar to what I got. After have done two with completely different results, I'd have rather ante uped for a Detroit soft locker, hell even the hard locker.
