Picked up this unit yesterday.
$500 bucks from a farm clearence sale. Hasnt been road registered since 1988.
Will need 2 front guards and indicator assemblies
windscreen
clutch Master cylinder
seats
and a steel tray, as ute body is rusty - certainly repairable, but so much easier to simply bolt a tray on.
2F Petrol Motor and 4 speed go really well, and the body itself is rust free. I dunno if $500 was too much, but they are getting hard to find, and it was only 16klm's up the road.
Plan is to get it road worthy and drive it,
with a set of wide wheels, front disc's, free wheeling hubs, an LPG conversion and a full floater rear to follow.
Cleaned out the 33 years of Dirt, Straw, Broken Eggs, spent and unspent bullets, one porno mag, mouse crap, an awesome fishing knife and some lures, bolts screws spanners and heaps of irrigation fittings, to eventually find a relatively intack floor mat.
gave the cab a quick polish and put some grey back on those wheels.
Progress pics to follow.
cheers
Dave

I think you got a great deal--something like that in the US would go for a couple thousand. I would keep the stock bed as all the ones down there seem to have trays--make yours stand out from the crowd.

"I dunno if $500 was too much..."

Well, I guess that from an Aussie perspective, Chev 350 engines are probably ridiculously cheap over in N. America.

$500 over here might pay for a couple of body panels, or a rusted out chassis, a dead engine, etc, but not a whole 45 series truck in that sort of condition. Nice find - and I'm looking forward to see the re-build process.

All the best!!

Have'nt done a great deal in the last couple of days. Pulled the roof, for repair, and decided to fold the windscreen for a check on any rust. How lucky I am, not a bit! Bought a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder on Ebay for 70 bucks the pair inc postage. I stayed home today to fix my work truck and wait for the postman, both he and my cylinders were a no show. Hopefully tomorrow...?:frown:
chased all the wreckers for some front guards. One bloke told me he ships all his 40 stuff to the US! Thought I was going to have to get one of you guys to send some back to me! Found some in Orange NSW (about and Hour away) for $60 each.
Checked ebay again and there is a semi decent tub body on there. The more I look at the Tub Body, the more inclined I am to keep it. I was offered a tray for free though. Might pick this other Tub up and make a good one out of the two, get the tray body also then decide.

Notice the lean to the cab in the picture. Im guessing this is the front l/h springs are sagged. The tub body is level. Someone said the chassis is twisted, I foind the hard to believe. Any Ideas??

Hi
Yeah some pics would be good. Pm me if you like.
I assume its the one of your lastest 45?
Its a nice vehicle BTW. Pity about the rust in the old one
Do you have any other bits and pieces lying around?

 Dave

yeah mate its the set up off my new one.
let me know areas etc that you want pics of an ile get to it and pm them too you.
got pretty much the whole rusted 45 for sale, disc front end, power steering, umm yeah pretty much the whole thing!

Pulled the seats today and started cleaning up the cab.
At this stage im not doing a complete resto, just a clean up to make it presentable and driveable, with a full resto to come in the future. I was amazed at how much **** came out of it. The pics show the foor being worse than what it really is.
The syringe was a lovely suprise to find. had a label from the local vet hospital. God knows what was in it, or where its been. Seatbelts are cool though.

Question. I have been given for free a set of new 60 Series OME Springs. Will they fit the 45 with any modifaction?
