ASV rebuild

I have the crimped on ASV cap and it won't hold vacuum. Here tell that some ingenious tinkerers have pried open the cap, fixed or replaced the diaphragm and re-crimped the lid. Anyone know anything?

Did a search, and couldn't find anyone attempting a repair of it. But if you can get the cap off without destroying it....
