Hello to everyone from Estonia!

I've been thinking about posting my build thread a long time for now because I once was a huge forum enthusiast when I owned my Volkswagens and built them and posted about it in Estonian forums and other VW group forums around the world but when I sold my trusty Passat that world came to an end. UNTIL NOW!

I got introduced to overlanding world by my friend who took me to adventures when I bought my first "proper" 4x4 which was Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ 2.7 CRD. It was a good car and we had a lot of fun with that car but more time passed and my needs grew. I needed something bigger and better so I started looking at Nissan Patrols but for the life of me I couldn’t find anything decent for sale because I wasn’t willing to pay a fortune and everything in my price range was rotted. Also Patrol actually didn’t fit my criteria because I needed something that can tow 3.5T. So I looked into VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne. Also not perfect because of the size but I like the luxury side of them. I was close so many times to purchase one but good ones were gone quickly.

So one morning when having cup of coffee with my lovely wife I ranted to her that there isn’t anything to buy that fits my criterias and I don’t want 100 series LC because it is just too big. Then I decided to compare the specs with Patrol and discovered that Patrol and 100 series LC are basically the same size and weight. I opened up a local car ad website and looked what there is to offer locally and at the time there was only three 100 series for sale. The cheapest was pre facelift that I didn’t want, the expensivest was….expensive and the third….well I bought it :D

So here we are. In march 2025 I purchased my first ever Toyota which was already modified before me.

Mods before me:

OME 2” (i think) lift and AHC delete
ARB front bumper with Dragon winch
Proper skidplate
EVO Corse 16” wheels with 33” AT tires
Drawer system in boot

Here are some pictures from the ad:

Welcome! Doesn't look like the pictures are working. I can't open them.

I may be blind but I can't find the option to edit my first post....so there it goes...another post. It's going to be a long one with a lots of pictures so bear with me.

One mod before me I forgot was that it has a snorkel also. Also I forgot to mention the purpose of this car. It is my daily I get around with but also my overlanding rig to go have fun with my friends and also take my family to adventures and camping.

Here are some more pictures of the first day of owning it.

I got a lot of goodies from the previous owner.

And also the first thing to do was to change the 18" winter wheels to the 16" Evo Corse wheels and AT tires.

Parked next to my old Jeep. I sold it to my father in law so it's still around.

Firstly a little fixing was needed for the trailer plug. Somebody was already there before me and had removed the original plug from the wiring loom. So I put it back there and fixed it properly. Also to get to the plug I had to remove the spare wheel which hadn't been touched in years so I couldn't get it to move. I had to remove it with the whole carrier which ended in several broken bolts but nothing that a little drilling and welding couldn't solve. Simple half an hour job that became a whole day ordeal.

Since the post only takes up to 20 pictures....to be continued.....

And then we get to the mods.
A box of lights arrived. Firstly I added a proper lightbar to the ARB bumper and also changed the ugly fog lights to LED foglights and added some hazard lights to the bumper. I use this car as a recovery vehicle also so I thought they come in handy.

I had to weld up some brackets to install the fog lights an hazards. Also removed the old Hella high beams and moved the lightbar below the bullbar.

Since the original low beams were crap and I already had some bi-led projectors laying around I decided to purchase some brand new lights and install the projectors in them. It involved visiting my fathers house to heat up the sauna and put the lights there to loosen up the adhesive and to remove the lenses. Installation was straightforward so really easy mod to get such a good result.

20 picture limit reached again :D ...so...to be continued....

Then began the overly complicated roof rack install. Don't get me wrong...the rack install was really easy and straightforward but I made it complicated with the lighting setup.

I wanted to add massive and powerful high beam light in front. Long distance lights on the sides, working lights on the sides, reverse/work lights on the back and flashing hazard lights all around. All the cables had to be run neatly in the roof rack itself and the rack had to be also removable so I had to install waterproof plugs in the roof (that was really scary part.....drilling holes in my car bodywork that I cannot change easily).
When running wires I added some wires to the rack for future ideas also...like power for rooftop tent, 270 awning lights and diesel heater maybe.

I had to remove all the interior to run the wiring and along the way I removed everything that the previous owner had installed. There was so many different boxes and wiring for antennas, screens, TV tuners, DVD players, headphone system etc that are outdated and I will not be using ever. So everything had to go.

Also I ran wires to center console for powering USB sockets with continuous power and cables to the boot for also USB sockets and diesel heater.

Along the way I installed magsafe wireless charger and also CB radio in armrest where the CD changer used to be (can't find the picture of the install right now) and I used wireless CB radio mic.

Found the picture of the CB radio install. Still waiting for my 3D printer to arrive so I can print a cover around it and maybe a little pocket for misc stuff.

Went on a first little camping trip with my family to test the rig out and we absolutely loved it!
I made some homemade window covers quickly to block out the sound, sun and to get some privacy.

Just a few pictures

Then a few lighting situations needed to be sorted again. The reverse lights were great but they didn't illuminate the trailer hitch so hooking up a trailer in night was a pain in the ass so I installed another little light on above the licence plate to illuminate that area. Another thing was the boot. If I opened the boot the one light in the ceiling wasn't enough so I ran wires from boot light to the boot lid and installed two lights that are originally meant for VAG group cars footwell and boot etc lights. That sorted the issue when camping and searching something from the drawers.

Another thing that I forgot to mention before was the interior lighting that was terrible. There are 5 bulbs in the car (plus the boot) and when opening the door only one of them lights up. Decided to do something about it but it needed to be OEM and the switches had to be working like they do. When you select OFF then all the lights are off when opening the door, ON is on and DOOR works with door and also the map lights had to work with OEM switches. So I ran one wire from the rear seat lamp to the front lamp since everything is triggered with ground and rewired the switches (OE switches are three pole switches from the factory) and voila! Everything works like it should. Also I changed all the bulbs to led. If you want more detailed writeup about that modification then let me know and I will shoot some pictures and make ja proper instruction.

To be continued.....

First of all, welcome and congratulations, I always love to see what Cruiserheads in other countries are doing with (and to) their rigs, and I appreciate you taking the time to share with us. It's very evident that you've been thinking carefully about your modifications/upgrades and it shows. Keep the pictures and updates coming! :)

Since I have too many quirks how I like how things work there is no off the shelf solution and I have to modify things to suit my needs.
LC100 is no exception to that. First thing was the electric steering column. Where I live I normally don't remove keys from the car and I let them stay in the ignition but doing so the steering wheel doesn't retract and come forward like it does when removing the key. I didn't like that so I rewired the ignition switch, added one relay so the steering column retracts when the ignition is switched off not when removing the key and comes forward when you turn the key in first position not when inserting the key.

Another thing was window wipers. They don't have that "move stalk/push button once so the wipers wipe once" option like my Jeep GC had and my Škoda Superb has. Sooo I had to make it work somehow. Since I have ARB bumper and the headlight washers have been removed I decided to make use of the headlight washer button on the stalk. Again some rewiring and now when I push the button the wipers wipe once.

Also time passed and the worn wheels and rusty bumper didn't suit anymore so I decided to paint them and here is the outcome.
During that I also installed new winch from Runva. Mainly because I wanted faster and better winch and also because Runva offers air operated freespool option.

And soon after that I wen't on a small camping trip with my daughter and two good friends and their kids. Both of my friends own 80 series cruisers.

And another picture with my old rig.

And that brings us basically up to speed with current situation and to current date.

List of things to do before new summer season is endless but slow and steady....I think :D

Here are some things in mind:

Air compressor install
Second fusebox in engine bay for lights and other things I have added
Switches install (already started by modelling switch panel to replace useless AHC controls but now waiting for my new 3D printer to finish the model)
Footwell lights
Door handle illumination (from Lexus. I managed to order one OE light from dealer but that was the last one from factory. If someone is parting their Lexus then let me know. I would like to buy set of lights.)
Overhead illumination/mood light install
New drawer system with subwoofer
Diesel air heater install (already have diesel water heater installed but air heater is more convenient when sleeping in the car)
Rooftop tent
270 awning
Radio and climate control "downgrade" so I could install more up to date headunit with carplay. I don't want that Android headunit stuff anymore. If somebody wants to sell me their set of radio, clock, AC controls etc needed for that swap hit me up!
Exterior molle panel install to mount my VAAS water tank
Winch air operated free spool install
Remotely operated main power switch for winch

I think this basically covers my plans for next half a year but there may be some stuff I forgot.

Pictures of the switches idea, drawer system and molle panel:

Something funny that AI created

And finally some pictures of the rig in action doing what it does best

Dear diary....does anybody know how to get the "build" marker on my thread?

Last few days have been productive as hell. Trying to go on camping trip next month with my friends so a lot needs to be done for me to be happy with the car and comfortable on the trip.

Firstly I finally did the ambient light mod for the dome light. Still searching for one light from Lexus for the door handle light to do those also. Did they really have the lights only in the front door handles?

After that I managed to 3D print the button panel for all the lights and other accessories. It's still not finished because the buttons should change colour when pressed but since I ordered from two different sellers they are not identical and few of them don't work like I need them to work. But hey...they work as switches :D

I already had the Webasto parking heater installed by previous owner but I really liked the idea of app controlled version so I changed the control unit so I could control via my phone from everywhere.

In my Jeep I had remote controlled main switch for winch so I don't have to open the hood every time I want to activate the winch and now I have one in the cruiser also. Don't mind the wiring right now. It all will be cleaned up after I got everything working like I want.

After that I installed onboard charger for the batteries and this also gives me opportunity to install outlet inside the car for camping purposes to use 220v. I needed the charger because I use webasto almost every day and it drains the batteries pretty good and since my daily commute to my workshop/work is around 1km (0.62 miles) it doesn't get too much charging. Also I wanted the charging to be simple. Now I just plug in the wire to the bumper and voila!

The cooler piping was little too exposed for my liking so I got original ARB cover plate for that. I needed to modify it a littlebit but it works!

Also from ARB the new soft buffers arrived so I could finish the front bumper

Rear window molle panel with water tank also installed

Lastly the idler pulley bracket was broken and also the bearing was also making a sound. So I ordered new parts to replace all of it.
