Here's some more advice. Put Sparky on your Ignore list. The only time I see his posts is when YOU quote him. :D

My blood pressure is down 15 points since I did this. :)

If I did that, I'd have to take out my agression on co-workers ;)

However, if you're hinting that I might be added to your ignore list because I'm quoting him (and skirting around the ignore feature), I'll take that as a hint to refrain from using the quote button :D

No hints Doug.... I'm not the subtle hint type. Direct and to the point except for humour.

As for your quoting him, that's OK. I'll read your posts at night after I've had a few glasses of Jesus Juice.

:D

Just don't take the Jesus Juice on scout outings B. And BTW......stop downloading pics from German websites. It's gotten one idiot landing in jail and a black eye on BSA.

Yea, that is a tragedy. Our nation's collective morality depresses me some times.

We're taking the troop to White Sands Missle Range and White Sands National Monument this weekend. Miles and miles of pure white gypsum. Maybe we can get them to blow something up for the boys. Should be fun!

As soon as Sparky opens his mouth it becomes a thread hijack. Jeez!

I bought my ARB at Rocky Road about 2 months ago. Shipping was free (as long as you give them a business address), and the bumper arrived in less than a week. I'm pleased.

Whats with the "business address"? I dont get it? I work from home and have a home office paid for by my company, can I call this a business address and have them dump it off on my porch? I must be missing something.

I am also wondering why the $75-$100 difference between the non-winch and winch bumpers? Is there that much more steel in the mounting brackets for the winch? Besides, theres a big hole in the front of the winch bumper :flipoff2:

Stuckey needs to be :censor:

Doug, quit owning people.

Yeah 4wheelparts does suck but sometimes they have the best deals. You just got to shop around. Now you know what sucks is rocky outfitters. Iv'e heard some bad stuff about them.

Gauge - I had a good experience with them as well, as I mentioned in my prior post. They were a company I had never dealt with before. I'm not sure what Sparky was refering to when stating we know they suck. My statement about customer service was a general warning to beware of some low cost options on the web. I didn't mean to confuse anyone.

In my opinion, if you haven't dealt with a business personally don't start bad mouthing them with 2nd, 3rd and 4th hand information.

Business has regular hours and normally business address for truck freight also means a way to unload the freight. Also, typically easier to get to than your house. We have been stinged in the past with a situation just like yours. Truck arrives at your "business" you are not home, only your wife. She can not unload the 170lb box and driver won't help (unless you are lucky or wife is really pretty). So now the truck goes back, comes back with a lift gate to deliver and we get stuck with the charge.

So it is really about logistics and not just where you work. A business address for truck freight is also not the 20th floor of some building in Manhattan.

Answered that on behalf of ARB in some other post. :D

Sparky was likely referring to this thread...
but there are others out there as well.

Some have had good luck/service, others not.

IMO, they don't seem very consistent, but they seem to come through eventually...

Had my ARB delivered to The UPS Store (Mailboxes Etc) for a very reasonable fee. Much cheaper than residential shipping in my case.

Ok, that makes total sense. When I actually get around to ordering I'll either have it delivered to my buddies legit business address or suck it up and pay the charge. Thanks for clearing that up.

Just noticed the new smilies icons ...... let me try this out

Sleeoffroad is :grinpimp: in the Cruiser Bidness!

The business address is to ensure that someone WILL BE PRESENT to sign for the freaking thing. Some people order these things and want them delievered to their condo on the 4th floor. UPS guy shows up at 2PM on a Tuesday with a package the size of a refigerator and guess what? No one home. So the UPS guy comes back the next day and guess what - still no one home.

As long as you are there to sign for it, there will be no problems. I had my bumper sent to my fathers house (as I know he is home every day) and made up a business name.

My understanding is the winch bumper is made stronger to be able to take the 20,000 lbs plus of force that can be put on the bumper by some winches.

it is really expected that you'd have a forklift to unload this thing?
can a couple of guys readily take it down from a truck?

I had my Tacoma's ARB bar delivered to my residential address. The freight truck showed up and the driver and I were able to safely offload the bumper and carry it up to the house. No forklift necessary, but it would have been nice. :D

Another thing you can do is have the trucking company hold it at their distribution center and then pick it up on your own. Of course, they have to have a distribution center in your city or its not worth it. I had an ARB shipped to their distribution center (I think it was Dominion freight) and showed up with a pickup to take it home. I was able to get it shipped cheaper and didn't have to be home to receive it.
