good question....these are what I've been considering...

2. stick them on the roof or other tubes on the bumper: ramp brackets — Gamiviti
3. maybe this... Spare Receivers — Gamiviti
I'd love to see what others are doing, too. I like the idea (if they would fit) of attaching behind the fuel or tire between vehicle and swing outs.

I have 2 6' cambuckle straps with hooks on both ends. I'm going to try to run them around the spare and hook to the handles. Will let you know how that works. My other option is allthread on the roof rack with a knob to screw them down. The straps are a cheaper option and seem much easier to get at when you need them. Probably not the best when you're wanting to look bad ass as you pick up the kids from school though.
