I would guess that the FJ80wiring harness would look like something from nasa. Could a 78FJ40 harness be used and then add on something simple for the EFI?

The FJ80 wiring harness isnt all that bad. The EFI portion is already there - just remove the component circuits that aren't going to be used, like power mirrors and just do that until its a trimmed down version of what is necessary to run it. Leave a few extra circuits there for aftermarket goodies and you'll be set!

In answer to a few frame questions:

I sectioned out roughly 8 inches from what I remember out of the middle section. I welded a rectangular sleeve 6" into each side of the rear sections. Then I used ratchet straps to get the frame square and my wheelbase set again, and then welded it up.

This gives me a super strong bond for the 2 frame rails, and my plan was to use plate on the outer and inner sides for extra reinforcement.

I've been told by a racecar frame guy that not every frame length adjustment uses a staggered cut - the center section of the frame is now the strongest portion of the entire unit even with a vertical cut having been done.

The entire project is currently at RedLine Cruisers in Colorado Springs awaiting evaluation for a prosepective buyer....who knows - maybe it gets built up locally in the end!

If you wanted to use the 78 harness you sure can - thats sinple too. Just wire it up with the O2 sensors and run circuits to the computer - roughly mimicking the 80 harness in the engine bay. Figure its easier to start with a full running and workable harness and trim it down :)

I think of this rig, at least once a week.
Jeff took it to Redline to see if they could sell it I think.
