This Thursday 11/13 I'm leading a trail maintenance pre-run in the Anza Borrego State Park for geo-tagging problem areas. This includes trail obstructions and marking camp sites in need of help. It's mainly a scouting mission for a near future multi-day event. If we find something that is a quick win we will clean/fix it. However, this is weather permitting. A system is moving in on Thursday but looks to be impacting only the western facing slopes and valleys. We will cancel if there are flash flood warnings for the Eastern side impacting washes within the Park.
The plan:
Who can go? I need a head count. So far it's:
The plan:
- Stage at the corner of Hwy 79 and San Felipe Rd. (area across the road from the power substation) Thursday 11/13 between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Head out to the ABDSP visitor center at 200 Palm Canyon Dr. They open at 9:00 am. Here we will meet up with Pablo Espinosa (State Park Rep.). He may accompany us on our adventure.
- Head out on Fonts Point wash and tag areas of Short wash and Palo Verde wash. Use the cut across and make our way to the 78.
- Time permitting, head out to Fish Creek wash. Scope out the multitude of campsites between Sandstone Canyon, Mud Palisades, and up the wash toward the Squeeze.
- Lets do what we can. Days are short. Would like to be back on pavement heading home before dark.
Who can go? I need a head count. So far it's:
- Hamilton
- Jeff
