Good evening,

If you missed this month's club meeting, here's a recap:

Our special guest was a senior representative of the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, who has a mission/responsibility to foster a relationship between the Park and the offroad community to help keep our favorite trails clean and accessible. As a club, we have spent 2025 exploring the opportunity to make this happen. Happy to say it can surely happen. All we need to do is commit.

We have been offered the tools and the logistics (trash bags, tools, state park camp facilities) by the AB State Park to do this, including social media publicity. We have also been offered some AB State Park discounts that I will mention later.

Our mission: Beach N' Toys will seek out problem areas throughout the AB State Park. Many hundreds of trail miles to investigate. Most likely a "show up Friday afternoon", "|work Saturday", "go home Sunday morning" adventure. This includes:
  • Trash
  • Illegal fire pits and burn scars
  • Obstructed trails (fallen sandstone, brush overgrowth, washouts, etc.)
  • Broken glass, nails, mylar, etc.
With that said, we have desert season upon us now to do this. The AB park system is waiting for us to give dates of our participation (a preliminary date was set during our last meeting....mid Dec). For now, all I need from you is a response to this thread (get a head count) if you are interested in participating. When we have a head count then we will work on dates and frequency.

Thanks,
-Hamilton

So happy this has come together! Sean and I are in! Should be far enough post-surgery to join the December event, if not can join in the new year.

Interested. Did we set a date? If I can make it I will bring my white truck bed trailer to haul stuff.

Working on dates now. This is going to be a multi-tiered operation. Thinking on starting out with a couple mid-week day runs to just geotag problem areas when park visitation is at its lowest. This will give us a plan for a larger club event where we actually problem solve. The Park will be accompanying us on the main events with the means to haul out the trash. If we choose to go it alone then yes, your trailer would serve us well. I'll be posting the mid-week dates soon.

Cool. Well I'll try to make one of those mid week runs if I can.

Frank
