Looking for a place to hide a truck gun. Seems like there may be enough space to squeeze an AR into the tailgate storage panels if the plastic inserts are removed. Wondering if anyone has done this before I start tearing mine apart.

I think it would depend on the optic and how high it sits. Or maybe just roll with some quality flip-up iron sights?

AR fits with sights folded and magazine out.

Nice. Did you just throw some foam in with the rifle to keep it from moving?

Well... Yes.
But...it is NOT a quickie project. At least not the way I did it.

PM me (so I don’t forget)...and/or contact Jason ( @TRAIL TAILOR ).

I need details. So let's back up a step can I put a 16 inch M-4 configured gun in there ?

I couldn’t get one to fit with an optic. Although a pistol variant might fit.

Something like this

The only way I can see an optic fitting would be if you built padding that allowed you to tuck it under the top opening under the hinge as you place it (if you’re referring to the Trsil Tailor too.

Or...just set up a quick release for your optic.

AR15 Pistol fits. No optic.

This will depend on your grip style and sights.

My AR15 Pistol with folded sights...no optics...and no magazine just BARRLY fits. Plenty of length. It’s the grip to top-rail where it’s tight.

The current truck gun is 16 inch M-4 configured and iron sights with a carry handle.
