I'm putting bushings in my A-arms soon, uppers and lowers. Has anyone made their own press tools for this? I've seen the SST's but I have access to a machine shop. I've worked with a buddy putting bushings everywhere in 80's with homebrewed press tools.

If anyone else has done this do you have dimensions you could post? It would just save some time, we could make the tools days before I pull everything apart. :D

I thought about it after lunch, why not measure my NEW BUSHINGS! :hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly:

Anyway if anyone made these and had suggestions I'm open to them. Things like overall press tool length, shoulders, ext. I didn't want to take the bushings out of the package, too much clutter here already. When these get done I'll try to get some pics and dimensions in case anyone needs them.

Can you use a socket the same size as the bushings?

Great idea, there should be something close enough to fit. All of the pics I see of SST's show a jaw puller turned by hand. The 80 bushings I've done took a 40 ton press, we might have broken sockets there.

Even if the socket looks like it's gona be damaged I could snag a cheap socket for one time use. This could be a winner, thanks!:D

If you have craftsman or snap on socket and if they break, you can exchange them for free.

With a good selection of tube scraps and a lathe, bushing press tools are a breeze to make. Find a piece of tube that fits the bushing, cut & face it in the lathe, good to go! We put bushings in a buddies S10 blazer arms last weekend, made the "tools" and pushed them in about an hour.
