1) the bolts for the crossmember?

2) the bolts that for the front bumper?

I forgot to grab them this morning and live so far out of town I don't want to come back in this weekend. Thanks!

Isn't the pitch of every bolt on a Toyota the same?

I gotta run an errand... I'll grab a 17 and run to Fastenall while I'm out...

Bumper and X member bolts the same, right?

I would imagine that they are the same pitch throughout, however, I can't go into my local bolt store and ask for Toyota pitch 10mm bolts. ;)

Thanks for checking, I don't recall if they're the same size or not.

The 17 that holds the X member is 12... The 14 that hold the bumper on to the bracket is 10.

both 1.25...

Nope, but they follow the JIS standard rather than ISO. You can tell them apart by thread pitch on some sizes, and by head size. JIS bolt heads are often a mm smaller than ISO ones. The Phillips screw heads on Toyotas are also JIS and allergic to regular Phillips screwdriver bits.

So I went by my local hardware store, and they had both 12mm and 14mm, but they were in 1.50 pitch and 1.75, respectively. Is the 1.25 pitch an automotive thing that I'll have to custom order?

There's something about metric or 1.25... I was gonna stud a head out and called all around looking for the rod... Grainger had it for like 4 or $5 a 10" section and would have to order it... Lowes, no. Home Depot, no. Ace, no.

I didn't even know what Fastenall was... Called them and they had 3 ft section like 3 or $4. Drove 2 miles and picked it up:D

one thing though... Here, Fastenal wants a ridiculous price for a Helicoil kit... 20-30-$40... I got the same exact product from the same exact manufacturer but with a different name on it at AutoZone(I know) for like $5.

A tap for the 10mm's bolt should fit right in the 17mm's hole if you just want it to true the threads... should

Ive parted out/stripped down/scrapped and/or "rejuvenated" a dozen or more Toyota trucks, and a few Samurais.....I keep a 5 gallon bucket of nothing but These bolts, nuts, screws aand fasteners just for this reason......

The FJ40 im restifying right now has been getting alot of Toy truck and Sami bolts on it

So what im trying to say is the best source for these metric nuts/bolts is another parts truck!!!

LOL, do you have some spares laying around? I just need 5 for the skidplate and 8 for the front bumper (I think).
