The business end of this thing is triangular in cross section, and the edges are quite sharp.

scraper for burrs etc?

Looks like it saw some action already.

(Or a disguised prototype for a WW2 OSS or Cold War CIA stiletto....? :eek: )
 
I was thinking some kind of reamer, but scraper sounds right because it's sharp-edged.

Stiletto? Or shiv?

It looks like a triangular scraper to me - I have one that looks very similar - I've mostly used it for i.d. deburring but can also be used for any kind of i.d. scraping. If you google up "scraping" and "machine tools" you will probably come up with a ton of info on what it;s all aboiut.
