Ford Another Mustang.......my 1969 coupe

This car was my friend Brent's and he owned it for over 30 years. Unfortunately he passed from cancer in 2024. He wanted me to restore the 68 for his widow and keep this one for myself.
The 68 is now being enjoyed by Betty in Illinois.
Alot of this happened over the last 2 years while I restoring the 68. It was my side distraction.
Here's the herd of projects as they amassed in my backyard. Spring of 2024.

First thing was clean up, reassemble, and rollers. It's in good shape despite sitting for at least 25 years with no side glass. The only rust is the drivers side floor.

New cooling, braking and fuel systems installed. The electrical is dead. I rigged up some wiring to make it run. I replaced the missing driveshaft. It has headers but had no other exhaust, so I built some 2.5 duals that dump in front of the 9 inch rear.
The story goes that this car was badass in the 1990s......street strip with a built 351 Cleveland. It also has a nodular 9 inch with 4.56 gears and some kind of locker.

It currently has a cammed 302 with the normal goodies. It runs good. Got a C4 that shifts hard and fast too. In the last picture it's headed to the Duct Tape Drags.

I trailered down to Tucson for the 2025 Duct Tape Drags. I made 3 passes but it had fuel system issues. It was the sputtercraft special. The event was super fun despite my issues. Guess that's what you get when you only drive around the block once before heading to the drag strip....lol

I then stored the car at my parents garage as I finished up the 68. I resolved the fuel issues...and this things now runs great. All first gear is wheel spin......it's super fun.
Installed the missing windshield and bought some new wheels too. They are aluminum and look like Magnum 500s. 15 x 7 fronts and 15 x 8 rears.

2 days after the 68 headed east.....I brought the 69 back to my garage. I have gutted the interior and all the wiring. Plan is a complete rewire, fix the floor and get ready for this years Duct Tape Drags.

I got a patch panel for the rear section. I plan to cut and patch the front part with some generic sheet metal. I am wanting to install some subframe connectors soon too.

The factory rear wiring harness is in great shape. I cleaned it up and am going to splice it to the new Painless harness. The repop tail lights have the cool sequential feature at a flip of a switch. Disco.....lol

I scrapped off alot of the old seam sealer and undercoating type stuff in the interior. Then I took the hose to it. There was alot of dust and dirt. It's much better now. I'll rattle bomb the trunk area once everything dries. Then back to the wiring.

Trunk is all blacked out. Looks better and good enough for now. Back to wiring.

Cleaned up the switch bezels and installed new switches. Starting to figure out wire routing and final locations.
The rear wiring for the car is all done. Just need to test, then fasten in place.

Had some time today so I swapped in new rear shocks......some KYBs. There's also a better shot of the trunk area after paint.
