another front clip thread

Is it worth it to bolt the front clip on before dropping the body on the frame or waiting until the engine is all wired up?

It would be nice to be able to work around the engine once the body is on, but those firewall bolts would be a lot easier to get to with the motor out of the way.

I'll have the body off the frame to do all the engine work prior to wiring it. It is sprung over, but I can take the tires off and drop it 10-12 inches.

congrats on the great work with "Treeroots" old truck I dropped the 69 body on the 79 frame with the front clip off; made things a lot easier.......it is on the "body transplant thread" here on the 55 forum.... HTH

Great. The lower bolts from the inners to the cowl weren't too bad then?

nope; the biggest problem was trying to figure out why I couldn't get the clip back far enough to get it bolted up........it was caused by interference with the 79s PS hitting the front clip..........sawzall helped here HTH

on post 109 body transplant thread you can see the 69 body and firewall before swapping it onto the 79 frame minus the front clip which I bolted on later after had solved the brake double circuit conversion and the linkage problems.......made it a hell of a lot easier to work on this without the front clip in place.....HTH
