Im troubleshooting my warm a/c, and testing the fan clutch, i read that it should have resistance when the engine is at operating temp. Should you be able to spin at all? i can spin mine, but not real easily. Im going to get the blue hub anyways as mine is probably original but i thought clarification would be good also.

Thanks,

Scott

I also checked the a/c window after about a 20 minute drive, and it looks like there is kinda a film going across it, and when i turn the a/c it goes clear. from the fsm shouldnt it foam, then clear?

Depends on ambient temp's.

Unless it's been messed with by you or a PO, the only thing you need to worry about is if it *doesn't* run clear (continuous bubbles instead) when the compressor's engaged.

Might as well respond to this one too as long as I'm here.

Trouble with the fan clutch is that there *isn't* a perfect test for it. It's more like: If you definitely knew what a good one felt like, then you'd probably be able to tell whether an unknown one was good or not. :meh:

You're definitely doing the right thing by replacing it.

Cheers,

Curtis

thanks curtis, the temps here are in the 70's so not hot yet. Last summer it would get nice and ice could on longer interstate drives, around town not so much. Its not even getting cold on the interstate drives with the mild temps outside now

If it has a reasonable amount of resistance, it is most likely just fine.

REplacement is never a horrid idea tho..

mace, with 300k im assuming it is the original and is probably well past replacement time

I too am trouble shooting my a/c. How do I get ahold of Dan for my new clutch? Thank you bonfire

More newbie questions

Ask CDan about a JDM AC fan too. I bought one from him last year and finally installed it this year. Wow, what a difference it makes when standing still or with slow trail driving. Ice cold air with the flick of a fan switch!
