Well the people on Pirate would kill me so sorry if Im causing a haze over here....

I've had an NWOR header for a 22re in the past and that thing was IMO flawless. It fit perfectly, sounded good, didn't rust, didn't crack over the 5 years I had it and it's still flawless to this day after I sold the truck 3 years ago as I get to see it every now and then :grinpimp:. I've been looking at the JT outfitters headers on Ebay because every now and then I see them go for around $125. Has anyone put one of these headers on their 22r? I don't want a cheap header but I wouldn't mind an inexpensive one that fits right and will last. Let me know. I think I spent around $400 bucks for that NWOR header and that kind of cost just isn't a possibility for something like a header right now but my stock manifold has a pretty good crack in it and I don't want to burn up any valves. This will be going on at the same time I do my timing chain and head gasket which will hopefully be done in the next few weeks.

Instead of starting "darn header thread" I was hoping to jump on this one. I have a smog legal downey header with the hot air riser emissions kit. Has anyone really noticed significant horsepower differences with the kit hooked up vs. not? This is all assuming that cold air works better for horses and allowing hot air back into intake screws that up.

Someone told me once that all that cold air stuff was designed for fuel injection, and throwing a K&N on a carb is sorta worthless anyway. What do you guys think? Some opinions on these issues would be much apprecitated. Thanks:bounce:

Well as far as "cold air" is concerned I think that is a stupid thing to call an air intake if you ask me. I had the K&N cone kit on my 89 with NWOR header, NWOR/Jardine exhaust and a bolt in free flow cat. I put all that stuff on and it helped that engine noticeably enough to make it worth all the money I spent on it. A "cold air intake" on an EFI engine pulls air from the same place as the stock box did, in fact the stock box probably got "colder" air because it had a port that pulled from behind the headlight where as the k&n filter was a cone in the engine bay. The reason for an intake like this is for higher flow, not colder air. If you want colder air get a snorkel, if you want higher flow get a less restrictive air intake. I was actually thinking about buying a K$N air filter for my stock air box, then cutting walls out of it along with the arm coming across the valve cover to get 360 degrees of flow instead of the restrictive little 4 inch tubing it pulls air through to that giant air cleaner. I haven't looked at what this will do to my smog equipment, but I dont get smog checked so I dont really care.
