In the middle of a refresh in my 1990 1HDT with 195k miles on it. History unknown. Here’s what I found:

Questions: Can anyone tell me if these are Toyota BEBs from the markings? I'm mainly just curious if these were ever done. Or at least I'd know if it had Factory bearings put back in and they were no better than the originals.

What lube does everyone use on reassembly? Standard assembly oil is fine or another recommendation?

Rather than make a new thread I'll toss my thoughts up on the BEB job here.

Mine is a 1995 JDM HDJ81 with a 1HD-FT. 340KM.

Somehow I missed until today that the on the 24 valve FT engines the BEB problem had been addressed. See my pics below, seems to proof out that emininent failure may not have been an issue for me. Not sad I've done the job though, good PM. Thought I'd mention here to make it clear for future searchers.

I got several good tips from this video:

I was worried about getting the pan off. Some old timer made fun of me at my first TLCA event when he saw in my toolbox as I was removing my swayers that I was carrying a claw hammer in a mechanics tool box. Well today, a carpenters tool made this job a lot easier than I feared. With the little pryer on the left I popped the front left corner off pretty easy and the rest followed suit.

Here's what my take out bearings look like:

Tomorrow I'll finish cleaning up the old goop and get the pan back on. Hopefully she'll

Lastly, thanks for all the folks who've posted tech on this topic. Lots of tips made the job go pretty smooth so far.
