When my grandfather retired as a Supreme Court judge in Turkey (he was a 2nd generation member of the court--meaning he came after the initial establishment of the Turkish Republic in 1923), he bought a three story house that was separated into three different apartment/condo like units. He thought that basically it could be a closer winter/summer weekend home away from the bustle of the city. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the islands (sans the government services). Life moves at a walking pace there....it's a beautiful place to retreat to during the hectic week. My grandfather now goes every weekend as do my cousins and I where we can hang out with hippie European girls....
