Bug: Android app always fails to log in on my nexus 7 (android 4.2.1)

I've been through this enough times that i'm sure i'm not doing something wrong.

Every time i launch the android app it fails to log in, then i have to back out and go in again and log in manually, which is successful. if i then leave it and come back, it fails to log in again.

Maybe it's because i have a whitespace in my handle? maybe it's specific to android jellybean - i don't seem to have this problem on my droid 4.

i've tried the clear saved logins menu item. i also tried using that, exiting, uninstalling the app, and reinstalling the app. No change.

known issue...was just on the developers website...noted on 11/16.

fix has not been pushed yet...hopefully soon.

oddly enough, an update .apk arrived this evening...and is now active in Google Play...

The problem still persist if you are running Jelly Bean (4.2) or greater. Same issue with my Nexus 4 and 7. Hope they patch this soon as the latest 1.3.17 still doesn't work.
