Not sure of the rule today, but in the US, it used to be you could talk for 9:59 before having to ID. Don't know why you would ever want to wait that long before ID-ing but that was one of my questions on one of my exams.

I need to get back on the air again. My tower and all antennas came down in Hurricane Frances, '04.

10 Meter Question

It sounds to me like everyone is basically going 2M these days. I have some 10M radios ( Pres Lincoln, Ranger RG-99, Connex 66 HP ), that I've procrastenated for YEARS about getting licensed to operate. Granted, some of these are " quasi legal ", is 10M dead? Just curious. Al

congratulations

Congrats on the license, you will relaay get into it when you QSO friends on the way to work, it really breaks up the drive. As far as ant mounts, dedicate the 2m/440 to just that stay away from CB areas, your ground plane is everythig in the field and the limita are endless. MyFJ mount location is a radio box behind the pass seat, easily accessed wire for power and ant. Enjoy Jim KE6HEH.

Ham Radio is the way to go. It's easy to get a license and the equipment is A LOT better than CB. But best of all, people are a lot more civil. No more having to change channels over and over again because there's a guy with a gigawatt transiver that is dying for attention.

Cheers

Alvaro
