I'm currently in the process of an overhaul on my 1992 80 series. I have the engine completely overhauled and have moved onto the tranny.
Here is my problem.
I've completely stripped the box which is an a440f. I've stripped and rebuilt the valve body in accordance with Toyota a440f manual....but... While building the box I've had to reference the a442 manual!
In the centre support housing the 440 manual says 4 plates and 4 discs.
I have 5 of each! Which corresponds to the 442!
Am I going mad or are there trannys with a combination of both 440 and 442?
