Am I doing this right?

I just want to run what I am doing by you guys in the hopes that if I have a major flaw in my plan you can tell me.
Background: 1991 Extended cab pickup 22r. Overheating and cross contamination of oil and water. I buy a head and replace it. Does not correct problem. I have bought a reman short block.(Early block 84). Can I put the head I bought for my 91 block on it?
I plan to just move everything over. I know I will need longer timing chain. I plan to just buy a new set and cover. I would also like to put a header and cold air intake.

You'll need a new A/C mounting bracket (pre-85) and you will have to file out the holes in your power steering mounts. The head will work fine on the block and I don't think you need a new timming chain regardless if its a lazer block or not. Go with a Toyota gasket or at least a fel-pro with all new head bolts.

Just saw the thing about a new head and still issues. Probably just had an issue with the front timming chain cover, no reason for a whole new block.
