Lou, here are a couple shots of the "truck frame" bumper I refered to. I hacked the front one when I fried the winch motor and had to replace it with a longer unit thus forcing me to move every thing. I have some more stock so I want to redue it. Learned some leasons when I fried the winch motor. Moved the polarity? selenoids from a box under the winch motor to in the engine bay by the batteries. Much nicer. I had the contoller port back behind the driver side bumper on the frame. Protected but just no good so the port is now holesawed into the grill right under the driver side head light. Maybe show all of that in another thread. For your amusement, Southern Engineering, Truck frame rail, Skillsaw, the most carbide teeth you can get, some wax and steel balls! Serious! fun, works better than you could ever imagine but scares the piss out me every time. Oh and don't go thinkin I thought this one up feller been, An ol Boy done taught me this un. A fj-40 owner to boot.

Where'd you get the alum. truck frame? Off a semi? Looks good... and yes cutting alum with a circular is always a good time... tried it with a router once... not so much.

but seriously, you just can't buy thick enough goggles and gloves to feel at ease...

That actually was a 12 inch C section, 4 inch legs. One leg is an inch thick. The other is 3/4 of an inch thick. It's kinda cool, childplay Engineering. Stronger front bumper? go with the inch thick web for the front bumper. need a winch plate? It's all there. Used to be you could get it at Big Rig Junkyards, they are Big Rig frame rail. With metal prices these days? Ya, I know what you meen about going about it, armoured better than a Knight, trembling like a child touching that spinning (wood?) blade to it, I meen death wish right? I felt like a god by the time I was finished with the first cut. Good clamping is a must here. Plus, Wife/Friend cell phone + first aid kit. What do they say? No Athiests in a fox hole? sweeping your garage for dAYS.

It's just awesome. Have any pics of the entire truck?
I have planned on building bumpers for my 55 from the beginning and I might have to go this route...
