I'm set up to do my measurements with the wheels off, front axle on jack stands, etc.

Problem is if I have my bar level (parallel with the ground), my rear tape hits the forward arms.

So the tape isn't straight and doesn't give a true measurement.

The straightforward solution is to rotate counterclockwise a few degrees, but then I'm not level anymore.

Any guidance?

This.

Or, use plumb bob, level, laser level etc to transfer a mark for the end point of your straight edges onto the floor every time you make a tweak.

I use stringline from rear rire to front tire, but apparently that's no good for left drive 80 with suspension lift, unless you have adjusted panhard rods so FR & RR wheels track on the same line

I rotated the bars until they cleared the arms.

I'm sure there is some math above my skill level that would tell me the difference with it set at a different angle than parallel with the ground, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I set them to 5ish mm which seems to be around 3/16" ish and a quick test drive tells me it is happy with this setup.

Thanks!

I figure they'll probably move out of that little bit of difference from the slight angle just from me tightening them, so I do it at the angle, get it close and call it good
