Quick backstory: took my 80 in for an alignment and they rolled it off and said they couldn't do it -too sloppy and didnt know why. I then got under the vehicle and found that the knuckle bolts were loose on the passenger side lower trunnion. So loose that one had damaged threads. So I pulled all that, ordered new trunnion bearings and races, pulled the axle, re-threaded the knuckle, housing and put it all back together. The races went in fine. The lower bearing and race that I pulled out was kind of chewed up. So I don't know how long I had driven on it. Not hard, and no serious off-roading that I could remember but the bearing was in bad shape. Once I got it all put back together, took it back to the shop, and they aligned it. But the camber on that passenger side is dramatically off. Like, visually off. It's negative 2.2 degrees. And so, of course, this makes it drive like a land whale.
Today I took it all back apart, checked my wheel bearings and spindles- they're all good and we're replaced 20,000mi ago. I checked the upper and lower trunnion bearings and races. Both visually look fine. And then checked the preload as I put it back together. The preload is correct. No shims on bottom, one .20 Toyota shim on top. And bearing preload checks out. But the camber is still visually negative.
So I guess I'm trying to figure out what to do next.
Most likely the knuckle is damaged or less possibly the axle housing has bent from running it loose. Those are the only two things that I can think of that would have changed the camber in such a dramatic fashion.
