Hey Dean,
I'm going to be in Ft. Nelson July 28 - Aug 2. I'll send you a PM.

Greetings from the End Of The Trail - Paxson

Weighing in here after a long absence.

I hope all Trekkers have a terrific time on the trail here, and that you have the opportunity to stop by once exiting. Although we are absolutely full/No Vacancy on the 18th - if it's too late to head on down the road to Anchorage - as many as care to can camp out in our Communal Activity Center. Darrell (JacobyWest) and friends stayed there on a pre-trip sortie last week and can give you a review of its fine sofas... ;)

On the not so terrific side, the rains that held off for so long have come; we have not had a lot of precipitation but there WILL be a bit more mud now than there was when Darrell last was on this end of the trail. I keep the NWS weather records here and can get you absolute precip data if anyone really wants it...

Cheers again -

Ranger

Hey Ranger, thanks again for the hospitality last weekend.

We're keeping an eye on the Gakona river water level via this NOAA website. For now, still looks OK.

Exit via Gakona/Paxson is a possibility but not fully proven. It would be great to land at your place if the last day gets loooong - thanks for the offer.

Matt

You can ship your rig(s) to me so you can drive it up there. Or you can take one of mine.

I will be going to ACT2010 in one of my rigs.

I have a lot to look into, shipping is the easy part. Getting all the nessercery papers to drive with insurance on the roads in the US and Canada will be more fun.

The 2009 comp season may also take its toll. 2010 may seem an age away but it's not.

The planning starts now

Tks for the offer too

We are getting closer, completed repairs and modifications to the rigs, loaded them out with all the gear, loaded everything on the trailer and went to the scales last night to check weight distribution on trailer, looks good. Only issue remaining is the sagging rear springs on Todd's cruiser, I have a good selection of FJ-40 spring , but we realized that when the shop modified his cruiser a few years ago, they put FJ-55 springs under the rear. We will get something worked out and will be leaving Tennessee on July 5.

I think i have almost everything done. Just waiting for my rear tailgate storage from www.wagongear.com to show up. Hopefully on Wednesday.

it's getting hot here, 35* C today.

Can't wait to meet you all.

Happy travels!

If anyone travelling from AK through FSJ happens to have extra room for a bottle (or more) of 3 Blind Moose Pinot Grigio and/or Chardonnay s/he will be handsomly rewarded for their troubles. :hillbilly:

It sounds like all of you coming up the ALCAN will be staying the night in Tok so you'll find eachother by Friday evening. The Alaska Cruiser Crew will be driving up from Anchorage/Palmer/Wasilla area on Friday. I'll cruise into Tok Friday evening and track ya'll down, see if you have any needs before we hit the trail. Keep our phone numbers handy in case you need repair parts or whatever from Anchorage on Friday.

Well, here are some pics from the spring adjustments we had to do on my rear end tuesday afternoon...after it was mostly loaded. We added and 2.5" lift OME add-a-leaf that was designed for the front when carrying a heavy winch/bumper...Thanks to Bob a TPI for helping us out!

At this point, I still have no idea what springs those are. When I bought them, I was told they were flipped/drilled 40 springs that came as a part of the SOA in a box that I got from Rascal. But these measure 2.75" wide, 45.5 eye to eye, and they're offset, so not 55 rears...They are aftermarket, but not sure whose??

As you can see, the first pics demonstrate that the springs that started out flat, had inverted. Then a few pics of the spring off and then with the new leaf, they sit just about where they were with the cruiser empty.

And Finally...almost fully loaded...minus the fuel...For those paying attention earlier, the small ARB is riding in the big truck up to Tok, and we'll move it to my Cruiser there...

See ya'll soon!!
