I have a 2013, single cab, 4 cylinder 4x4 Tacoma, 31" K02's, stock suspension, 190k miles. looking at possibly getting airbags in the rear. I load up pretty heavy with a cap and a dirtbike carrier on the backside, always have the dip in the back, seeing if anyone would reccomend airbag suspension? I thought about just adding a leaf, but I worry it will be a rougher ride during the rest of the week when I'm not dirtbiking/camping. Are airbags a good comprimise? What brand/set up would you run? Is it just time for a complete suspension over haul? What would you do in my situation? Thanks in advance

I have the blue Firestone “air lift” bags in my LX470 with OME 2” lift. They cost $140. I air the bags up to level the headlights / remove rear sag when I have my heavy swing away bike rack on the hitch. But the Firestone product has been unreliable — one of the bags has a leak and I need to install a replacement. Wondering if there are higher quality options out there?

I had Firestone airbags on my 06 Tacoma double cab, long bed, 4x4 and they were an excellent solution for varying loads. I had zero problems with it for the many years I used it. I sold the truck to get a full size diesel truck.

I put Air Lift air bags on the diesel truck I bought. Only reason for the Air Lift over the Firestone was it was less money. Both kits basically replaced the bump stops. The Air Lift has been trouble free for years and I'm still running them.

Several friends asked me to install air bags on their trucks and they have been happy with them and so far trouble free.

The air bags themselves are a super easy install. If you want onboard air and in cab control the install is more work and expensive.

It's nice to be able to keep a soft ride and adjust as needed for the load. Just my personal experience.
