Air Intake CFM?

For a stock motor 1FZ, no turbos or SC's, how much CFM does the motor need?

I'm trying to figure out what the CFM draw is to convince myself with data that I need to replace my 7" Donaldson precleaner with a 10".

Anyone have a link to this data?

Thanks

Should be able to roughly calculate that figure for a given RPM. It is a 4.5L displacement engine. Convert that to to cubic ft and multiply by RPM.

Using that formula, I got 0.1589cubic feet * 2200rpm = 349.58CFM

2200 chosen for cruising rpm.

According to this link: Donaldson Full View Pre-Cleaner
The 10" wouldn't even flow enough CFM, not to mention the turbulance arguement that others have mentioned with these precleaners at highway speeds.

Am I doing this right?

Thanks for the help.

I guess my girlfriend wasn’t lying about having to sleep with my physics professor to get me a passing grade after all. :flipoff2:
