Pull the front seats and shampoo the carpets once or twice a year. It's about a 2hr job and works wonders.

Mine smells like whatever I happen to have in there... It smelled like new rubber floor mats for a few months, then I hauled a power sander around and it smelled like sawdust and some wood finish.

My personal favorite: Somehow the carpet stuff on my new subwoofer enclosure made it smell like those pink cakes they put in toilets Needless to say quite a few matches were burned in there before I let anyone ride in it.

I had one of those blue "new car scent" trees in there for a while, but I'm kind of losing the battle so I think a good Bissel marathon is in order
