Just wanted to post this up for future MUDrs. Got an FJ62 this winter and have been slowing fixing it up. My fuel gauge has been reading empty - so based on threads on here I started diagnostics at the sender. I noted during removal the sender had no markings on it at all.

Pulled it out and float wasn’t stuck. It looked clean and fairly new. I checked the ohms and it was slightly out of spec at full but was close to factory recs and went up and down with float arm. I checked the gauge and it was moving with float arm appropriately. Now I was thoroughly confused. I reinstalled and noted it was tough to get it in the tank but eventually got it in. Sure enough gauge was reading empty again.

While removing it again I noted how it felt like it was binding on the arm. Came to conclusion it was bad design and arm must not be the correct length or angle. Got a new OEM and installed today. Sure enough - OEM arm is 4 inches shorter. OEM Fit in easy and worked perfectly. I’m sure this has happened to lots of owners - or they have replaced their sender and thought the gauge was the issue when it didn’t work. Here is a pic of the two senders. Toyota one on left.
