Has the club ever done any sort of adopt a trail type of activities? I was reading this issue of Toyota Trails and Rising Sun has a piece about working with their forest service through a program like this. Maybe this would be a good way to keep trails open and get some notice if they are to be closed in the event anything can be done to prevent a closure.

Do we want to choose a trail at the next meeting?
Found a great trail that branches off Thomas mtn rd (Rouse Hill Truck Trail) which ends down behind the of the Hemet Ranger Station last weekend. may do it again today.

That sounds like a great idea. How often does a group go out to clean up, etc...? Does it make sense to adopt more than one?

You're talking about doing the official adopt a trail right?

I think so but am not sure of the difference.

I like the way you think. I don't know often one has to do a clean up or what if any official hoops one has to jump through so maybe we can all put our heads together next meeting. I'd say adopt two if the time commitment wasn't too burdensome.

Glad you got inspiration from the article! That's exactly what I was hoping for when I wrote it! We (Rising Sun) have 2 Adopt a Roads, and generally try to have 2 cleanup days per year. Contact your local district office and see which areas need attention! There are many ways to engage with the local Rangers!

Thanks Matt! I am learning more about this as I go. To the B&T crew, maybe at tomorrow's meeting we can divide and conquer the information challenge first which I suspect is to find out what trails need help. Then maybe we can vote on which ones to go after.
