I'm going to have to pic up some boots. I've been using several old pair of my military issue and they're all about destroyed.

I'm thinking I like these. Used mainly for camping, etc. I don't get into really cold climate anymore.

Thoughts?

adidas GSG-9.2 (Black/Black/Black) - Hiking Boots

I didn't know Adidas started marketing that style boot for hikers. I used to hate the old Adidas assault boots which resembled the ones in your link.

I prefer Lowa or Asolo for my hiking boots.

i finagled some out of supply in the desert a few years ago, comfy but not suited for anything wet, pretty much destroyed them in a few months, also tried the Oakley assault boots, they run kinda small, are comfortable like a athletic shoe but once again wet anything and your goin down. For something thats rugged and has a athletic shoe fit, i'd say go with danner acadia's. Get the USMC version as they are a bit lower in the top. If you want something for strictly hiking you can't go wrong with Merrel's i've had mine for 20 years (dam i feel old now) And if you really want something that will last forever and have iron feet go with some Whites, those are great too.

Im sold on Danner, I wear the Acadia 6" every day, I have had them resoled around six times. I recently purchased the Radical 452 GTX for hiking and camping, they fit perfect right out of the box. Danners are not cheap, but well worth it. You have to take care of your dogs.

X2 on the Danner's I have the 6" Hiker II lite and the taller (8"?) Foothill boot. Both are very similar boots, one being taller than the other. My foot is a little narrow and the danner D width seems to run narrower than other boots I've had (lowa, La Sportiva, Merrill).

a big X2... those are "street boots"

great tactical boots made for the German special forces....very flexible with great traction and ankle support. Not really designed for hiking, not well insulated or waterproof. The sole will wear quickly due to soft compound.

Danner Arcadias are excellent multi-purpose boots, long wearing, insulated, waterproof and the soles are long wearing and replaceable.......

My 2 cts.....

After wearing out several pairs of Danners (the leather is too soft), I got into Cabela's Alaskan Hiker by Meindl. They're so friggin awesome, I now have the Alaskan Hunters as well! They're tough all right, and high enough over the ankle to actually give you some support. I've had them for almost a year now, thru elk hunting and muley hunting.
