My air conditioner compressor leaked the freon out. So I live in new England were it does not mater as much. Was wondering why it gets so hot in the truck during the summer. Well I bet that AC system is pumping heat into the cabin during the summer. Do I need to disconnect the AC system at the firewall to prevent this? Or do I have this wrong?

No, just put some 134a back in, find out where the leak is and get it fixed. The air coming in is warm from the heat of the engine bay. The alternative 60/4 method is noisy.
