First off, what an incredible resource! Thank you for allowing me to participate.
I am not a mechanic, but doing my best. I own a 2004 LX470 with 117k miles. Took a road trip this past weekend, and the dashboard lit up while cruising down the highway.
What I know: All pads are 50-60%. Codes pulled and all that showed was C1223 (fault in ABS control system). The car is braking and operating normally with no loss of pressure. No buzzer sounding. Took to an indie shop, they tested speed sensors, no problem there, and recommended taking it to a dealer and having the ABS control module replaced.
I’ve been reading through LOADS of threads on here, and have learned quite a bit. I have performed the brake test (pumping brakes to lose pressure, turning to “on” position and timing the pump. 35 seconds +/- to regain pressure. Brake fluid level is spot on.
So… is the problem likely the skid control ecu? If so, will this have to be programmed for my vehicle? Is there other trouble shooting I could perform? Finally, anyone in the St. Louis MO area that can recommend a good independent shop if I can’t get this figured?
Thanks to all of you for this community!
