ABS / BRAKE LIGHT alarm sounding?? - 98 LC

Just had the ABS / BRAKE light go on and a alarm sound. Pressing brake very hard to get any braking at all...had to use the parking brake to get it to stop....is there any way to override / disconnect the ABS system and get some braking back...if not, any techy's know what I'm looking at $$$....

New brake booster sensor, computer, blah blah blah.... Toyota part, labor and tax....

Anyone wanna comment that had a similar LC brake rebellion....

My 2000 LC did that a couple years ago. The dealer should have a service bulletin for it. They clipped a redundant feedback wire to a chip in either the alarm or ABS module. They had done 6 other LC's prior to mine and had no adverse effects and no comebacks to date. No other work nor replacement parts were necessary and they assured me the ABS alarm would work in the future as designed, should a real event trip it. Cost was $48 but would have been covered under warrantee with a $50 deductible. I chose the $48 bill.

Edit: I forgot to add mine didn't have any brake performance issues when the alarm went off. It was some sort of electrical hiccup that made it go autistic. With your pedal going to the floor, sounds like something more serious going on. I would start with the master cylinder. I'm not sure what the innards are in the Toyota MC, but I had a Ford Bronco that developed an internal leak in the MC that merely passed fluid from one piston to the other as the pedal went to the floor.

The Combination meter alarm "going nuts" issue has a TSB fix so check the TSB FAQ but your alarm could be properly set for a brake problem.

No brakes is not a symptom of the alarm problem.

My guess is your electronic booster failed...~$1500 for a new booster/master assembly.

Yes, that happened to me about three years ago. What actually failed was the electrical pump in the master cylinder assembly (that includes the electric booster and abs). Not cheap, but a relatively easy DIY repair.
