I am looking to see if anyone has a set of 315 75 16s that they might want to trade for some almost new 285 75 16 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I need something in good shape as the wife will look at me funny if I trade for crap...:D Alternatively, I would be interested in trying a set out to see how the 80 goes with stock gears and 35s. I know it is kinda a weird request to try some tires out, but if you have some old ones that are mounted still?

Thanks, James

Those would work, but I would have to sell mine at the same time... Hence the trade query... I have nowhere to keep an extra set.

Does anyone local have experience with running 35s on an 80 series with stock gears and the 4.5? Lots of talk in the 80s tech section, but I don't really care how well it works in Iowa... They don't have hills!

I think 35s are it for me. I want to be able to tow my trailer still, and 37s will kill my power without a re-gear. Are you running stock gears with 37s? At some point I will re-gear and do an ARB locker in the rear. I am also looking for a Center dif lock switch if anyone has a parts stockpile...

Sorry, no java... Is that a Vertol in your avatar? I have a lot of friends who have hung out under those, and chinooks working for Helifor...

Are you on the floating camps? My friends own Sea to Sky heli-rigging. Paragon is the camp they were at for years.

Good old Moldagon, it was on Rick Mercer a couple months ago. I know those guys, most of them aren't in the business any more, Sea to Sky isn't around.

My friend Jay Sines ( his brother Pete owned sea to sky),is working heli rigging all over the world now... Last I heard he was in South America somewhere... Next time you are down Langford/Metchosin way, lets have a coffee (since there is none in this thread!).

Pete shut it down and last I heard he was cutting firewood and making more than managing the riggers. I heard Jay was driving a truck or something in Squamish. They stopped by in Pemberton in 09 when we were there on fires but I was on time off. Coffee sounds good, or beer. Stop in if you are headed up island too. I am going to try and make an apperance at a meeting one of these days.

Will do on the beer/java. I drove Jay and his wife Stef around Mexico in my BJ60 years ago. Good times and awesome offroading in the jungle...

I run 315/75R16 Cooper STTs with stock gears on the hills here without much trouble, never towing anything though. I use the pwr button most of the time on the pavement and am pretty lightly loaded most of the time (tools, recovery gear and 3 kids is the max).

Thanks for the info caanuck. I am not usually in a hurry when towing so hopefully I will make out ok. I think it will be similar power/torque to our 01 Taco with 33s. It should tow our trailer fine, but perhaps at a more "sedate" pace:D

Let me know how sedate goes, might be a trailer in my future.
