As most of you know I'm currently running the stock 4 speed trans and one-piece x-fer case behind my 2F. I like it so far but after this weekend I'm looking for more gear. I have a spare split case x-fer from an FJ62 and can get a matching 4 speed from an FJ60 for uber cheap. I already know I have to run a tranny x-member and modify the 4wd vacuum actuator on the split case. My goal is a cheap upgrade. Would it be worth my while to do this swap?

No. The gearing differences are negligible. You can buy 3:1 gears for the split, but they cost about as much as an Orion or Atlas. There is more strength in a split. If I was to do my doubler over I would get the adapter for a 19 spline but it hasn't been worth changing over even after busting 3 14 splines.
