That is one tough split window in the back of that truck. It looks like they ran the chain around the frame of the little split windows to secure the truck.
I'm getting one of those to mount my winch to.

It looks like the box is empty, or nearly so, to me. That is a flat deck tow trunk with the dunage in that picture.

Nope, they are just tow hooks into each side. I was thinking that if any force had been put on them they would just peel through the body of the cab as I don't think there is much strength there.

I think you would be right on that one. Crazy. Probably a better way would have been to run the chain through the side and back window, and hook the chain back to itself...... Could've, should've, would've....

if they were going thru the trouble of putting chains thru my back window as I dangled like that I would have said "fawk that" through me a chain, I'm climbing outta here! I would not be sitting in there waiting to see what happens.

The link here Happened Near Revelstoke (Are these pics PRO Dodge or ANTI Dodge?) - Fun In B.C. , which is where I think the photos came from, says he was towing a trailer so I'd assume the flat deck is his trailer. I've had a Dodge Cummins and they are NOT great in snow.

You are quite right. I looked again. Trailer brakes are a wonderful thing.
