Thassit Tommy. We'll be over there looking back next weekend.

I have some great memories of camping and hiking in Graveyard Fields when my kids were not much older than that little tyke, right up through backpacking through there when my son was big enough to carry his own weight. There's a pretty nice little falls up the creek that runs under the Graveyard bald.
My son gave his mother heart palpitations climbing up it when we weren't looking lol.

Another memory from that area was hiking back from Shining Rock to camp down the branch below Graveyard Fields. We happened along just as a big ol' granddady timber rattler was crossing the trail. He fired up his 15 or so rattles and doubled back out of our way. Sucker must have been six feet long and 3-4" or more in diameter. You don't see many timber rattlers these days and I've never heard of one that big. I was glad to let him live to rattle another day.

Hope to see you around the holy lands.

Good pictures. Lots of color int he leaves there. I was up in Boone on the parkway this past weekend and there was some color but not that much.

Wow! Thanks Tommy i needed that as well! You are definitely blessed to live so near the promised land.

Nice shots tommy, i miss my annual sams knob and graveyard feilds trip i used to make religiously through college. Definately got a lil more color than the linville gorge, but the parkway looked to have a light white dusting around mt mitchell.
