A/c help

need some help with my A/C
94 Land Cruiser, when I turn on ac it runs, but when I click the “A/C” button it makes a weird winding noise? Bad compressor?

Winding noise? Like the wind blowing through a vent?
"Whining" like a bad bearing is perhaps the desired word?

Almost like the belt is worn out

Break out the FSM and do an actual diagnosis.
