hi !
is someone have seen this kind of mount ?
an A/C compressor on a PTO ?

I have seen them mounted on hydraulic motors on equipment. But on a FJ40, this would not work at all unless you only like to be cool when stationary and then there be no airflow across the condensor at that point. I don't believe you should drive with PTO engaged while cruising around.

The PTO can be engaged while driving but why use it for A/C??

It would be MUCH more work to fab a compressor bracket that uses the PTO drive than find the right compressor mount.

not enough RPMs for one thing......

A lot of hotrods will use a pully on one of the drivelines and hide the alt down there to clean up the engine compartment. I could see the same thing being done with an A/C compressor, but the question is why? Just about any engine you can fit in a cruiser can fit an a/c on the engine under the hood. Plus it's much better protected than hanging off the bottom down by the PTO.

was just a question. :)
i'll take a look on how to mount this on a B motor :)..sure i'll have to make a bracket to hold the alternator and the A/C compressor, let's go !!

tanks for your answers :)

the 50sgmc 6x6xs had a 270 gmc engine with an air compressor on the motor .this engine and the toyota engine are very close some parts will interchange so it should not be that hard to do. im sure the new compressors are smaller and will fit better. they also had 2 storage tanks and shut off at 120lbs good luck

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so derogatory. I was just trying to point out that it would probably be more work and not as good of a finished product. It's just easier to put the A/C under the hood. There should be plenty of room under there. An alternator or second alternator on the pto would probably be a better fit down there. Maybe a big generator so you could power your house in an outage would be nice.

good luck

if you run a generator off the pto you need a belt driven govenor on the engine but you would be able to power your house also the generator can be on a small trailer that you back up to and hook up ,neighbor has this on a 54 power wagon but they were made for the rear pto setup anyhow good luck on however you do it
