My 97' LC Build. just pics of the LC for now. im new to the LC so alot of stuff i dont know about when it comes to off road vehicle.
engine was bad and plans to do 5.3 LS motor and matched tranny.
Tcase either fj60 or fj80. most likely fj60 .
this has leather but driver seat has rip. seems to me the same in many others. headliner is real dirty so i will try to clean it if that doesnt work then it will come out.
this LC didnt have factory locking diffs F/R. so will want to add something later.
so far i have taken off the side step pieces. will also take off the fender flares. maybe get rid of 3rd row seats.
after i get it up and running i want to lift it and have bigger tires.
So far i want to thank Wayneosan and Warpdriv for their feedback.
also want to Thank many of the others that have posted their builds it will make it more easier for me to finish mine with out having to do the same R&D hours that many already put in.

Cool, I like that exterior two-tone combo. Same deal here, bought a broken 80 and just put new OE everything back in, including 1FZ (pre-owned).

I'm almost there!

Thanks.
awesome. i looked into rebuilding engine but the head was warped and the rod bearings were drivin along time and it cut into the crankshaft. i would have bought a used engine to just put in but junkyards wanted 2k. so i would rather put that towards the 5.3 swap. if you know anyone with a good 1fz for cheap i am willing just to get the truck moving.

Thanks.

Just keep an eye out in the classifieds part-out and for sale section, I think there's a 1996 1FZ in there as we speak for less than $1k.

I was lucky to find a mudder locally (totalled truck) with a motor that was baselined with recent head gasket, rebuilt heads, and fairly new accessories. I have to make the final leap to wrap it up, only maybe 4-5 hours left of re-installing random junk.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. i will look at the classifieds

Update: finally got around to doing stuff. i bought and 05' 5.3l 4l60e setup. i also decided to go with fj62 tcase and adapter kit. i also got hub kit and tcase rebuild from orangefj45. thank you warpdriv for all your help. will get some pics up soon. then i will rebuild the tcase and adapt it to transmission and after that it will be a little bit before i get the engine mounted etc when i get some more time. and between that i will work on the wiring which shouldn't be too bad but i just want to make schematics so i can get as much of the the set up to work with all toyota stuff. but feels good to finally get something moving on the project

Have you decided what you will do with the third row seats? My 97 has them and I'm keeping them, but the plastic bushings between the mounting bar and seat brackets are missing. I suppose I could get replacements from Cdan, but if I could get them for cheap from someone who is discarding a 3rd row setup, and has them, it's worth a shot. Just let me know.
Very interestend in how you engine swap works out. Good wrenching and keep the pics coming.

I was going to use the splitcase also but decided to just weld up the diff in my current tcase and install hubs to convert to 2wd/4wd. That way I dont have to make a crossmemember, change drivelines and custom shifters. The Lexus tcase adapter is more money but in my opinion saves a lot of time. Soon I will also be installing a 5.3L 4l60e combo but with the drive by cable. Can wait to see the progress!

update: it has been around 2 years and i still havent done anything with my project. only thin i did 2 weeks ago is weld the aa adapter engine mounts.
as it seems i do not have time to work on this project i am going to be listing it for sale.
the stuf i have on the car is:
97 land cruiser shell
91 lc transmission with t case
2005 5.3l v8 chevy with transmission and all accessories except p/s pump
aa adapters tcase adapter to 89 lc tcase
89 lc tcase
upgraded aluminum radiator
slee 6" lift kit still in box. only thng it does not have is dc driveshaft ( didnt order it bc case it would work with the set up)
ls1 intake
oem bushings for front control arms new
i will have to check o what other stuff i have. i have 9k invested into it and no time or place to work on it.
send me any offers.

update.. i will be making time to get my LC going.. gonna start on it in a few weeks. nobody wanted to buy the project and i sold 3 of my other cars now im motivated to get this the going to make this my daily driver

A new update: i have had a little time to work on the project. i just went through to make diagrams for the land cruiser factory harness. the 2 plugs used for the interior electronic. i did this so i can reuse wires to make wires look clean and possibly factory.
i will post up my diagrams i made for the IH1 and IH2 plug from LC engine harness. i used 96 EWD but mine is 97 harness. they were almost identical as far as pin location few were in a different spot. but as far as color of wires they were same. i also set up the 5.3 harness just to get things plugged up and get the thing started but still a lot of stuff to do.
i also have moved. as before the car sat for few years and nothing happened. but this time with the weather the car sat for 9 months but with the humidity and cool weather i found that mold was growing in the LC. so i have put damp rid inside to help pull moisture out. i will go in and vacuum it out and also spray mix of distilled vinegar and water to help neutralize the left over stuff. any other ways to get rid of mold will be much appreciated.
