97 LX450 coolant loss

To me it sounds like the head gasket. When the engine is cool or cold, or at idle combustion gases are presurizing the coolin system. As the engine heats up the gasket is sealing better, less pressure, less leakage. The gasket is leaking coolant into from the water jacket to the exhaust port not the cylinder, therefore no evidence on the spark plug.

Good theory, but the head gasket doesn't seal the exhaust port. Normally, when the engine heats up (IE harder driving) the loss of coolant escalates. Not saying your wrong but where going against conventional wisdom. I'm wondering if the thermostat opening up may have some bearing on this mystery.

What is the latest on this SIXRACING?

I am now experiencing this EXACT issue. I mean to a "T". I am about to run over to NAPA this morning to get the UV coolant test and UV light because this is driving my absolutely nuts. 1 gallon in a few short weeks and ZERO signs of source of coolant loss. I did JUST replace all the hoses and replaced all the clamps with Breeze Constant Torque clamps so I am leaning to a bad seal somewhere but there is no dripping, leaking, seeping, misting. No bubbles, no wet carpet, no smoke, no sweet smelling exhaust.

Reviving an old thread here.... did you ever figure this out? Just curious as I am experiencing pretty much the same thing right now.

Thx

Why the rebuild?

Ah, I see. So the mystery coolant leak finally turned into a catastrophic HG failure. I have all the same symptoms you had other than I do not have the white goo under the oil cap.... so really I have no signs that there is a HG issue. Need to keep looking for a leak.

Thx!
