Hello all. I have a 95 1hdft. I replaced my injectors, and since have noticed diesel smell ever since. I have slowly been eliminating areas of wetness and have gotten all of the lines snugged up. However I seem to have some misting coming somewhere from the hard lines at the injection pump where they meet.
I have a few questions from what I have gathered on here so far:

1) Can the seal on these lines not line up and simply undoing and then buttoning back up fix?

2) Does the delivery valve seal go bad on the injection pump? Would it make sense for this to get worse after replacing injectors? The part number I have for this is 2214956351

3) If the car sits for awhile I have to reprime the fuel filter as it slowly releases pressure- which I honestly like for theft purpose, but don't like smelling diesel.

any help is appreciated. I haven't done a dye test yet.

1) There is no separate seal between the hard lines and the delivery valves on the back of the pump. They seal by compression of the domed end of the hard line against the valve. If either surface has imperfections, corrosion or damage, they may leak.

2) The 'seal' is a copper crush washer. These are single use items. If the delivery valve backed off when the hard lines were removed (which can happen if the nuts on the hard lines are over-torqued), then the copper washer should be replaced.

3) It's not losing pressure, the pump is an open system via the return to the tank. But air is getting into your pump. If air can get in, moisture gets in, which over the long term might cause issues.

Dye testing is for AC systems. If you don't see diesel leaking out, you won't see the dye. If you see wetness from diesel, no need for dye.

Thanks for the shout @Eurasiaoverland ! I will see if snugging the delivery valves slightly fixes the issues. IF not will order some of the copper washers (which was the part number i posted).

Cheers!

Alright was installing all of the crush gaskets on the delivery valves, they definitely where leaking from there as it was misting from almost every single one. And the gaskets looked toast. However the 2nd to last one I dropped and the delivery valve assembly went flying. Spent about 2 hours looking for the pieces, then realized how small the little ball bearing was and decided to order new ones. I am getting several part numbers of: 2210417840, 096420-0720, 096420-0550. I order the 0550 as this was the most consitently found part number for the 1hd engines that I came across.

Two things:

1) is this right/ which one is?

2) Does anyone have a delivery valve assembly they can sell me that I don't have to wait 2 weeks for?

Cheers to all.

Can you post the part number on your injection pump, from the plate on the side of the pump, just forward of the distributive head (where the delivery valves screw in). Then we can check which valve is correct.

I will grab that tomorrow. It is below temps now where I live, and keeping it in my friends heated garage.

Your delivery valve is 22104-17840 or Denso 096420-0720

Thank you very much for the help, have a set on order. Out of curiosity how did you figure that out? I tried searching for specifics after finding the pump number but wasn't coming up with anything other than what was stated previously.
