the NJ word..
My 94 Hilux Hunting Beater Commuter 4X4 has cancer. I just realized the hanger is cracked and pretty much the frame is rotted from the inside pretty bad. Special thanks go to east coast road salt bath every winter.

Any suggestions? Some kind of bracketry maybe?
I don't like the fact that it is close to the fuel tank.

p.s.- yes I know I have a broken leaf. These things take time to fix ya know.;)

well, I had hope, till I scrolled down and saw the 2nd pic...

I'd rather swap the frame then try to fix what I perceive is in the 2nd pic. But that's just me. I don't have a welder, or know how to use one. But I can buy a frame and swap (in your case, a frame from the lower states) it for the cost of having a pro do a patch job.

IMO, you've got more rust issues somewhere, and in my mind the cost to fix that does not outweigh the fact you'll be doing this again.

just MO.

Have a look at Wristy's meat mobile buildup. You can do anything from a grind out, clean, paint and replace with angle, to replacing the entire frame.

WOW,

if I found that I would take a hammer and punch and find out just how far the rot went.
and take it from there. that is pretty bad.

I would then take some 3/16th strap steel, flat stock as wide as the frame. pull the tank. weld that to the bottom. and replace the sides with the same.
that needs fixed, you are a danger to your self and every one else on the road.. I wonder sometimes about the folks that don't watch for this stuff.

hammer and punch, find out how far the rot go's. take pictures and post back up.
don't worry about knocking holes in the frame, as if you can knock a hole easy, that part of the frame is not really doing anything any ways.
if this is your daily driver I would start looking for a second truck while you fix this.

for after the fix,, I drilled some 1/4 inch holes in the low spots of the frame and wash out the mud and crap about once a year.
then I spray it with a garden sprayer with the nozzle on a piece of rubber hose. I try to shove it up into the frame as far as I can go from the rear. and I use the rubber access holes in the front... it is a mess and not environmentally friendly..

you can also set the truck on fire really easy when welding on the frame...

Yeeesh, kind of a gloomy outlook but one I expected. My buddy is sending me a number for a guy that is a Yota mechanic enthusiest who says he'll sell me a frame to cut out the the bad spots and insert better condition frame sections. He says it's a cinch.
Maybe for him.
Let you know how I make out.

I have had several rear frames rust out over the years. I had a shop that would do it....did not care about liability. anyway he was damn good and would fix anything I needed. My point is if its in the back and only one or two sections I would not hesitate to have it fixed....if you can find someone that knows wtf they are doing. A simple patch job will not hold up...it needs boxed . His work was better than factory and would flex just as much. Dont just give up start making phone calls and look at past work they have done.

There is a guy on the west coast still driving my 40 that I had fixed in 99.
