Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster here! Bit of a yarn here for ya's and any help on this matter is much appreciated.
So basically I bought this 80 bout 3 years ago (1993 VX limited 1hd hdj81) - factory auto that had been manual swapped before I had purchased it with what looks like a H151. Well start of this year the clutch decided to tear the center out of itself while I was cruising home one day and I lost all drive so a new clutch was on the cards (heavy duty excedy installed). Now the clutch that was in this thing when I bought it always shuddered quite badly when taking off in 1st/reverse and these are no small shakes this thing was literally like a buckin Bronco trying to take off!, my thoughts were this issue was to be fixed after i install this new clutch and machine the flywheel, but no such luck it would appear. Its still the same as before with quite an aggressive shake when trying to take off ln 1st/reverse! My question is what normally causes this??? Driveline backlash? Faulty clutch? Only thing I found after doing alot of research is that by the looks my 80 has the later 'cast' clutch fork which I wasn't aware of there being 2! Don't know if this can cause issues if the wrong throw out bearing is matched to it? - after that initial shudder on take-off the clutch feels good no slippage and shifts perfect. I also installed a new clutch slave and gearbox mount at the same time as putting the new clutch in. I also had the gearbox apart as one of the 5th gear selector keys had come out, ill put some photos up of that and the box and maybe someone will know what box i have?,I hope the 80 gurus here can help rule a few things out here
thanks again guys!
