cool, sound about right then, the Hamer toyota dealer with 25% discount is $434 so i guess that is about as good as it gets for a direct factory replacement. Glad you got it sorted out. I'm still considering my options...I may decide to go with an Electric fan etc.

Cheers,

In addition as I understand it the differences between the oem plastic type radiators is: the copper core variety have 3 cores while the Aluminium has only 2 cores. So perhaps the extra row is the reason some for the improved performance.

Cheers,

looking forward to learning more from the collective and enjoying my Cruiser.:)

also copper conducts much more heat than aluminum, Aluminum is used in newer vehicles as it is much lighter than copper, that along with other lightening measures helps the company with fuel effeciency regulations (CAFE)

the OEM 93 radiator is described as "brass", I have been trying to find out if the fins are copper or brass, the tubes (cores) may very well be brass

Yes it is true that as a result of CAFE regulations many manufacturers have gone to plastic/metal hybrid type radiators in order to save weight and increase fuel efficiency.
I have learned today that I will most likely choose to have my factory unit rebuilt by a radiator shop. I was informed by the owner of a certain shop that Specter off road among other landcruiser specialty shops rebuild the original units to perfect factory specs and performance. At which point they turn around and sell them back to the consumer!!
So for much less than half of the cost of a new unit my truck will enjoy renewed performance in the cooling department.:bounce:
